I’ve always fancied living in a commune and raising children there. There’s something about a nuclear family, with conventional schooling and routine that doesn’t appeal to me, but at the same time I’m not an individualistic nazi, I like being part of a wider circle of like-minded people. The problem lies really, with the latter, while I like online communities, the thought of being holed up with you day after day would drive me mad. I like being by myself for most of the day, so a commune would be death to that.

Anyway, imagine us bloggers are in a commune together, what would we all do, what would be our roles?

F-C – The Landlord. He’s the only one with a house big enough to house us all. Tis true, I’z seen/ been in it and almost got lost coming back from the loo.

The Woo – The Woo can be head honcho reporter, telling the wider world about us. I bet she’d be great with the kids too (if there were any, mind you).

Out on Blue Six – TV monitor, making sure young eyes aren’t subjected to anything beyond the ‘watch with mother’ years.

Planet Mondo – Now he’d make a great Dad. Bring yer kids along PM.

23 Daves – Daves can write poetry and teach the children how to write.

Me – I’ll be strumming on my guitar, pottering in the kitchen and avoiding everyone (no offence, I just will be).

Let’s Look Sideways – He’ll be head cook (as long as you don’t mind eating curry and/or Sunday roast in constant rotation).

Cheeseford – Now it wouldn’t be a commune without the nation’s favourite thrifty shopper, cider maker and jazz guru, would it?

I know I’ve left some bloggers out, it’s not intentional. See, I couldn’t do communal living, I’d offend someone eventually…

I’m listening to this on a loop this afternoon. Oh yes. I’ve mentioned this album before and I can’t recommend it’s velvety tones highly enough. This collection inspired me while I was having gospel voice training.

Who would have thought what I once mistakenly believed to be a Gil Scott-Heron master tune could sound creamier? Not I.
